Precursor - cannot clone the vpg, you will get the below error:
so you have to delete the old one and recreate it.
-
Before deleting, take screenshots of the vpg headings “summary” “protected VMS” “sites” “settings”
-
You will need to check the name of the vApp that the vms are sitting on (if vCD), as they are not being learnt as standalone VMs:
-
Go to the VCD that the VMs are on (found in the “sites” heading)
-
Check vApps for matching VMs that are on the VPG, usually it is the name of the VPG
-
Delete VPG. Keep the keep at peer site box ticked
-
Create VPG, fill out the information from your screenshots until you get to the network section
-
In the network section, set the target VLAN to the one that matches the source VLAN. e.g site 2 vlan60 is a source, youd choose site 5 vlan60 (or whatever the recovery site is)
-
Compare your settings with a healthy VPG to confirm its all good and send it off.
Keep in mind when a VPG is deleted there is no recovery point for disaster, all those VMs are goneskies in terms of replication.
