Precursor - cannot clone the vpg, you will get the below error:

so you have to delete the old one and recreate it.

  1. Before deleting, take screenshots of the vpg headings “summary” “protected VMS” “sites” “settings”

  2. You will need to check the name of the vApp that the vms are sitting on (if vCD), as they are not being learnt as standalone VMs:

  • Go to the VCD that the VMs are on (found in the “sites” heading)

  • Check vApps for matching VMs that are on the VPG, usually it is the name of the VPG

  1. Delete VPG. Keep the keep at peer site box ticked

  2. Create VPG, fill out the information from your screenshots until you get to the network section

  3. In the network section, set the target VLAN to the one that matches the source VLAN. e.g site 2 vlan60 is a source, youd choose site 5 vlan60 (or whatever the recovery site is)

  4. Compare your settings with a healthy VPG to confirm its all good and send it off.

Keep in mind when a VPG is deleted there is no recovery point for disaster, all those VMs are goneskies in terms of replication.
