The golden rule:

View things from the customer perspective!

Please make sure you:

  1. Communicate and update customers often
  2. Format emails in a manner that is easy to read
  3. Clear with your requests/information/findings

Here is an example of a good email:

Hi customer,   As discussed earlier over the phone, the monitors for the health checks are set up as:

  • 5 Seconds for interval (how often a health check is sent via the monitor)
  • 16 seconds for timeout (how long before the pool is marked as down)   With the setup like this, the monitor will send 4 checks (0s, 5s, 10s, 15s), wait one second, and be marked as down on the 16th second.   We are able to increase the time of the interval and timeout time for this. As per f5 best practice, timeout should be set as three times the interval time + 1 second.

Happy to clarify any further.
